Readers Are Leaders
Our favorite community outreach is the Readers Are Leaders program. Once a year, as part of  the Read Across America national event celebrating Dr. Seuss’ birthday, we read to 2nd and 3rd graders at our local school. We’re proud to be founders of this event in our community.

We founded our Readers are Leaders in 2011 with 6 readers and the United Way. We chose our own books from the library, brought them from home, or went out to buy them. Our 7th Annual Readers are Leaders event was held in March of 2017 with over two hundred and fifty volunteers reading to over four thousand students at 22 Grade Schools.

Readers Are Leaders 2017. We read Oh Say Can You Say; a book of tongue twisters. After hearing a tongue twister, the children raised hands hoping to read the same tongue twister better than their guest reader. Here I am being read Pete Brigg’s Pigs by a 2nd grader after my crown..
